Area Summary

The Central Area of Minneapolis is named after Minneapolis Central High School, one of the city’s largest schools. The boundaries for Central include lake Street on the North, 38th Street on the South, Interstate 35W  on the West and Chicago Avenue on the East. The are is primarily made up of commercial and know for Target Field, Orpheum Theatre, Hennepin Center for the Arts, Minneapolis City Hall, Minneapolis Convention Center, Hennepin County Medical Center, Elliot Park, Loring Park, the Metrodome, Nicollet Island and the Warehouse District.

Central is made up of six neighborhoods, North Loop, Central, Loring Park, Elliot Park, Stevens Square and Downtown.
