Spring Lake Park is a city in Anoka and Ramsey counties in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 6,772 at the 2000 census. The city lies mainly in Anoka County.
Minnesota State Highways 47 and 65 and County Highway 10 are three of the main arterial routes in the city.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.1 square miles (5.4 km²), of which, 2.0 square miles (5.2 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (5.26%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 6,772 people, 2,724 households, and 1,830 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,411.0 people per square mile (1,313.9/km²). There were 2,756 housing units at an average density of 1,388.2/sq mi (534.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 90.87% White, 1.27% African American, 0.81% Native American, 3.12% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.96% from other races, and 1.95% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.38% of the population.
There were 2,724 households out of which 28.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.0% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.8% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.97.
In the city the population was spread out with 22.6% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $46,646, and the median income for a family was $56,922. Males had a median income of $39,026 versus $28,677 for females. The per capita income for the city was $21,932. About 2.7% of families and 5.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.9% of those under age 18 and 3.3% of those age 65 or over.
