Twin Cities Housing Market Buyer Activity

I wanted to follow up my blog post, Should I keep my home on the market over the holidays?, with a chart about home buyer activity.

In the chart below you can see Buyer Activity starts to pick up when the year begins and maintains some consistency into October. 2010 numbers do seem to be influenced in March and April by the Homebuyer Tax Credit. Although I’m not completely sure by how much since the remaining part of the year is pretty flat and there isn’t a trending decline in activity. 2011 appears to be showing a more traditional pattern since there were not any tax incentives like there were in 2009 and 2010. I’m going to be running this report again at the end of December so we can see a full year of comparisons. In the mean time it’s expected serious buyers will still be looking over the holidays and sellers that do keep their home on the market are motivated to sell.
